Ã¥ Àüü ¼Ò°³ A Long Walk to Water is a short novel written by Linda Sue Park. This is about two childrens lives in Sudan, Africa. The story is two-folded: one is about Salva who is a eleven-year-boy and a refugee as the result of war. The other one traces a girl, whose name is Nya. (...) Chapter 1 A Long Walk to Water deploys two stories in a different time. On the one hand, Nya in 2008. Throughout the story, she goes to the pond to get water for her family. It is tough time for her, because it takes almost all day and journey on the road covered with dust, stone, and thorns would be even more harsh for a little girl like Nya. On the other hand, there was Salva in 1985. He was the same age as Nya, and he and his family lived Southern Sudan. Like other people in the village, Salva and his family enjoyed poor life. Thanks to Salvas father who was successful villages judge, Salva and his three brothers were sent off to school. Salvas two sisters didnt have education which was normal in averege-household in Africa at that time. Poor as he was, Salva remembered having a good memory from his childhood in his hometown. He and his brothers would take care of the cows and there they would shoot at small animals or birds. Those were peaceful and beautiful memories for this little boy.(...) |
